It is widely known that Gnomes are very slow beings that take an awfully long time to do anything. This is, however, not quite the case of Arlbor the Gnome who is deemed, among the other Gnomes, rather speedy indeed!
Now, this is by no means speedy in the Big Folk sense of the word, and Arlbor is still rather slow by our reckoning – similar to that of a tortoise. But, in Gnome terms, this is positively rapid, the likes of which they have never seen!
So ‘rapid’ are the movements of Arlbor that he has found the ability to hide a very useful tool indeed, rather than standing very still much like the majority of his kin. And can eagerly duck away from passing big folk when needed. He has also taken on a small hollow at the base of an old oak tree as his home, a rarity for a Gnome, yet Arlbor has indeed a home and a fine one it is too.
Arlbor has an inquisitive nature and is fascinated by us Big Folk. He is often seen wandering along, albeit slowly, behind the Big Folk and listening to our strange tales and observing our odd behaviours before quickly disappearing out of sight if needed.
 He has also heard tell of female Gnomes. These beings are very elusive and rarely, if ever, seen by any male Gnome - in part due to males being so incredibly slow and rarely moving unless absolutely necessary! Female Gnomes, so it is said, are very similar to the males in size, shape and beards yet are much swifter in movement than their male counterparts. Arlbor is fascinated by this and has made it his personal quest to seek them out.
